Does it cost a monthly fee for auto gps systems?

I am considering geting an auto gps system and was wondering if there is a monthly cost, and how accurate they are on giving directions?|||If you live in an area with a lot of construction / growth then you will find the GPS is often off a little when driving because an on-ramp has been moved or new streets added. It will also often not list newer shops, gas stations, etc.

If you get an after market model like the other poster suggested then it will be much cheaper to update the mapping software in the unit from time to time. (I update my Garmin about once every two years for about $100)

Also be aware that if you live in a state like California you can get a ticket for having a GPS (or any device) stuck to your winshield so an aftermarket model becomes less attractive.|||they are very accurate and high tech, and no they dont have a monthly fee. I recommend getting a portable aftermarket system instead of one from your dealership since the new aftermarket ones are about 10 times cheaper and just as high quality if not more. There are also several portable ones that are handheld that are just as good (ie TomTom or Garmin).
