Can someone explain to me how to use this older GPS?

i learned to fly in planes that had no GPS but i just got signed off in a 172. there is an older style bendix king GPS and some of the buttons are: direct to, curser, nearest. but i really dont know how to work it that well, can someone explain to me how to work it?|||The older king gps systems are very easy to work but it would be hard to explain it on here. Direct will allow you to select the airport, VOR, NDB that you want to go to. Press direct and select the airport code. Nearest will show you the closest airports, stations etc. Cursor will allow you to move the highlighted area around. If you get a chance, go on a trip and set yourself up in cruise. Then play around with the unit but keep a good lookout going. Or just ask an instructor to show you.|||maybe your flight instructor could help you.|||do u not have any seniors whom u can ask??

or call the gps manufacturer!!!

i guess

direct to means ur destination!

nearest means???|||You really do need a manual. Some manufacturers have them online but if you contact them, they will tell you how to order one. You just need to give them the model number. They are generally not expensive and are well worth the small investment. There is a lot of older navigation equipment out there and asking people about it I have found is generally not reliable. I had an older unit in my first plane and asking three different pilots gave me three different answers on various methods of operation. Manufacturers generally maintain documentation on older units for quite some time. Go to Bendixking.com and you should find your unit listed there. You will have to establish an account or contact them in order to retrieve the info. Hope this is of some help.|||Just a good guess, hit direct and then turn the dial to enter in the 3 or 4 digit airport code and press direct again.

You should also be able to find the manual on the manufacturer's website.
